ABSTRACT Apparatus for exchanging a pouring tube in communication with the outlet valve of a metallurgical vessel includes a pivot arm which is mounted to pivot about a vertical axis and a hori- zontal axis. One end of the pivot arm carries a mounting for supporting the pouring tube and the other end cooperates with a toggle lever mechanism. A pivotally mounted actuating lever is positioned to contact the toggle lever mechanism to exert a force on a spring assembly carried by the pivot arm and thus to exert a torque on the pivot arm about the horizontal axis.
