41587 CAN 4A APPARATUS FOR FEEDING THE FREE END OF A MICROFILM TO A TAKEUP REEL AND FOR WINDING THE MICROFILM THEREON Abstract An automatic film takeup reel to capture the free end of a film and wind the end, must guide the film along a feed passage (2) formed by a housing (1) toward a rotating reel (5) of a soft material. The end of the film (6) is held to the reel (5) by a ball (12) biased by a spring (15) toward the reel and is directed around a cavity (11) until wound. A spring biased arm (25, 83) then shifts the housing (1) axially of the reel (5) to afford continued winding.
