Title: Apparatus for finishing clothing ABSTRACT Apparatus for finishing garments in which the garments are treated with steam, comprising a first stretching and retaining device for a band or border of the garment; means for moving parts of the first stretching and retaining device away from one another from a rest position; a second stretching and retaining device for retaining parts of the garment positioned opposite the band or border; means for moving the first and second stretching and retaining devices away from and toward one another, and means for blowing steam into the garment, the means for moving parts of the first stretching and retaining device away from one another from the rest position being designed to rapidly carry out this movement over a first distance until a predetermined condition has been reached, followed by stretching the band or border with a relatively low tensile force.
