An apparatus for generating and manipulating a high-pressure fluid jet includes an end effector assembly (14) coupled to a manipulator that imparts motion to the end effector along one or more axes. The end effector assembly includes a cutting head (15) coupled to a source of high-pressure fluid and to a source of abrasive, to generate a high-pressure abrasive fluid jet. A motion assembly is coupled to the cutting head via a clamp (21) positioned around the cutting head. A nozzle body assembly (30) is removably coupled to the cutting head assembly upstream of the orifice. The nozzle body assembly may be separated from the cutting head assembly to allow access to the orifice (17), without removing the cutting head assembly from the clamp. The clamp has a quick release mechanism (81), allowing an operator to open the clamp by hand to allow access to the cutting head, and an alignment member is provided on an inner surface of the clamp to accurately locate the cutting head in the clamp. The motion assembly includes two motors(4 0, 41) coupled together to form a gimbal wrist, each motor having a horizontal axis of rotation (82, 83). The two axes of rotation are perpendicular to each other, but are not necessarily aligned with the manipulator's axes of motion. Spray from the abrasive fluid jet is contained by a shield (37) provided directly in an end region of the cutting head assembly (15).
L'invention concerne un dispositif destiné à produire et manipuler un jet de fluide haute pression, comportant un ensemble effecteur terminal couplé à un manipulateur imprimant un mouvement à l'effecteur terminal sur un ou plusieurs axes. L'ensemble effecteur terminal comporte une tête de coupe couplée à une source de fluide haute pression et à une source de substance abrasive de manière à produire un jet de fluide abrasif haute pression. Un ensemble de corps à tuyères est couplé de façon amovible à l'ensemble de tête de coupe en amont de l'orifice. L'ensemble de corps à tuyères peut être séparé de l'ensemble de tête de coupe de manière à permettre l'accès à l'orifice sans retirer l'ensemble de tête de coupe de la mâchoire. Ladite mâchoire comporte un mécanisme à démontage rapide permettant à un utilisateur d'ouvrir la mâchoire manuellement de manière à permettre l'accès à la tête de coupe, et un élément d'alignement est disposé sur une surface intérieure de la mâchoire de manière à placer précisément la tête de coupe dans la mâchoire. L'ensemble d'entraînement comporte deux moteurs couplés l'un à l'autre de manière à former un poignet à cardan, chaque moteur présentant un axe de rotation horizontal. Les deux axes de rotation sont perpendiculaires l'un à l'autre mais ne sont pas nécessairement alignés avec les axes de mouvement du manipulateur. Les éclaboussures du jet de fluide abrasif sont retenues par une protection disposée directement dans une zone terminale de l'ensemble de tête de coupe.
