ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to a circuit arrangement for generating stepping pulses for driving a stepping motor. The circuit arrangement generates stepping pulses by means of which, unlike prior art arrangements, a movement of the stepping motor in the optimum load angle range can be achieved. The stepping pulses are formed by means of several start pulses in short succession and a plurality of control pulses which are emitted whenever the rotor of the stepping motor has rotated by one stepping angle. In this fashion the stepping motor is accelerated by the maximum dynamic torque. The stepping pulses are produced by means of a read-only memory (coefficient store), wherein data items coordinated with a particular characteristic have been stored. The data items determine the division ratio of a frequency divider which produces the stepping pulses from timing pulses of a predetermined repetition frequency.
