ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Elongated wood cants aligned in a given direction are displaced laterally from a first position to a second position without disturbing the alignment. The apparatus comprises a first frame rotatable about a first axis, and a second frame rotatable about a second axis parallel to but spaced apart from the first axis. The apparatus further comprises first and second mechanisms for grasping the elongated wood cants. The first mechanism is pivotally mounted on the first frame about a third axis parallel to the first axis, and the second mechanism is pivotally mounted on the second frame about a fourth axis parallel to the second axis. The third and fourth axes are spaced apart from the first and second axes, respectively, by a same distance. The two frames are simultaneously rotated about the first and second axes, respectively, and during this rotation the third and fourth axes occupy a same angular position with respect to the first and second axes, respectively. In operation, the first and second mechanisms grasp longitudinally spaced apart portions of the elongated cant in the first position and the two frames are rotated to displace laterally the wood cant to its second position where it is released still aligned in the given direction. During rotation, the first and second mechanisms rotate on the first and second frames about the third and fourth axes, respectively.
