INVENTOR John Michael Partridge FRY TITLE APPARATUS FOR HANDLING ROUND BALES OF HAY ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A transport unit for handling round bales of hay comprising a wheeled chassis and a bale support frame extending along the chassis and pivotally mounted to one end of the chassis about a substantially horizontal transverse axis. A drive is provided to cause pivotal movement of the frame on the chassis between a position lying adjacent the chassis to an upright position. Bale support members are provided at the pivotal end of the frame and support devices are provided on the frame to support the end of the bales remote from the bale support members. Pick up devices are provided at one side of the chassis and are adapted to engage bales on the ground and lift them onto the support frame, such that their longitudinal central axis is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the transport unit.
