An apparatus for releasably holding a tubular toolholder shank (45) by axially reciprocating a lock rod (95) between a locked and unlocked position. The lock rod (95) is reciprocated using a rotatable cam (150). The cam compresses a spring (200), thereby urging the lock rod (95) in the locked position and positively displacing the lock rod to the unlocked position.
