An apparatus for holding and tuning a thin film optical assembly (140, 146) is presented in which a housing (110) receives a cylindrical thin film optical assembly which can be rotated to adjust the wavelength at which it passes or reflects an optical signal. The thin film optical assembly is composed of a thin film optical filter mounted on a cylindrical unit having a flat mounting face and an aperture for the transmission of light. The housing has a light path (282) machined through it which permits light to pass to each thin film optical assembly (149, 146), where one wavelength is separated by transmission and the remaining wavelengths are reflected to a subsequent filter. Each thin film optical assembly (140, 146) can be rotated within the housing (110) to permit wavelength tuning. Once the thin film optical assembly is tuned it can be held in place using solder applied between the thin film optical assembly and the housing (110). Optical fibers (100) are coupled to the housing (110) using ferrule and graded rod index lenses. Each fiber optic (100) assembly can be held in place by solder applied between the ferrule and the housing.

Cette invention concerne un dispositif de maintien et de réglage d'un ensemble optique à film mince (140, 146) dans lequel un boîtier (110) reçoit un ensemble optique cylindrique à film mince dont la rotation permet de régler la longueur d'onde à laquelle il passe ou de réfléchir un signal optique. L'ensemble optique à film mince comprend un filtre optique à film mince monté sur un élément cylindrique dont la surface de montage plate comporte une ouverture permettant de transmettre la lumière. Le boîtier comporte un chemin optique traversant (282) qui permet à la lumière d'atteindre chacun des ensembles optiques à film mince (149, 146), dans lequel une seule longueur d'onde est séparée par transmission et les longueurs d'onde restantes sont réfléchies vers le filtre suivant. Chaque ensemble optique à film mince (140, 146) peut être tourné dans le boîtier pour l'accord en longueur d'onde. Une fois réglé, l'ensemble optique à film mince peut être fixé par soudure au boîtier (110). Des fibres optiques (100) sont reliées au boîtier (110) au moyen d'un embout et de lentilles à gradient d'indice. Le maintien de chaque ensemble optique (100) à fibre est assuré par une soudure entre l'embout et le boîtier.
