ABSTRACT Apparatus is provided for accurately-positioned insertion of a winding sleeve, provided with adhesive, in the form of an adhesive tape, a glue trace, or the like along the surface of the said sleeve for gluing the start of a strip of fabric thereto, into the pinch of a winding machine, and for ejecting the wound roll of fabric. The apparatus is in the form of gripping tongs adapted to move along an arc and forming a unit with a beam secured to the side of the tongs facing the wound roll and serving to eject the latter. The gripping tongs are adapted to be moved and actuated by a drive-means, and the front end of the ejector-beam is bent or angled inwardly towards the pinch.
