ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An apparatus for isotope exchange reaction has a cold tower and a hot tower. The cold tower comprises a means for converting feed water containing hydrogen isotopes to mists, a hydrophobic catalyst bed part of promoting isotope exchange reaction, to which hydrogen gas leaving the hot tower and a reaction gas containing at least one of hydrogen gas and deuterium gas leaving the hot tower and the mists of feed water leaving the means of converting the feed water to mists are supplied, and a mist removal part of removing the mists from the reaction gas. The hot tower comprises a vaporization part of vaporizing the feed water leaving the cold tower into vapor, a hydrophilic catalyst bed part of promoting isotope exchange reaction, to which a reaction gas containing at least one of hydrogen gas and deuterium gas and the vapor of feed water leaving the vaporization part are supplied, and a vapor removal part of removing the vapor of feed water from the reac- tion gas. The apparatus for isotope exchange reaction has a high reaction efficiency and a high safety.
