ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE APPARATUS FOR LAYING CURVED LINES IN AN ICE RINK An apparatus for laying curved lines in an ice rink comprises a guide pole having a fulcrum pin at one end so that the pole can rotate about a centre of an intended circular line. On an opposed end of the guide pole is mounted a reel of a paper material which can unroll across the ice as the opposed end rotates around the fulcrum pin. A guard member for protecting the reel includes an end plate against which an outer surface of the reel slides and a side plate along a peripheral surface of the reel to prevent water from a spray from engaging the reel and causing freezing of the paper material onto the reel. The guard member includes the end plate and a rectangular side plate with a lower edge of the rectangular side plate resting upon the ice surface to act as a smoothing agent for the paper as it is laid. The device is pushed around the circle by a handle attached to the end of the guide pole with the handle including a spray nozzle for applying a fine mist of water onto the paper immediately after it is laid upon the ice surface.
