An apparatus to form a duplex-like fiber optic connector by maintaining plug assemblies in a side-by-side relation to enable simultaneous mating with sleeves of a receptacle housing. The apparatus having a pair of separate housings, each housing having a chamber where one of the plug assemblies is retainably received. A retention member is incorporated into one of the housings and a clasp member is incorporated into the other of the housing. The clasp member and the retention member being retainably interconnected to hold the housings in a side-by-side relationship with float therebetween, whereby the float accommodates any misalignment between the plug assemblies and the sleeves.
Appareil pour former un connecteur à fibre optique double en maintenant les fiches l'une à côté de l'autre afin de permettre la coïncidence simultanée avec les alvéoles du logement de socle de prise. L'appareil comporte une paire de socles séparés, chacun ayant une chambre où l'une des fiches est maintenue. Un élément de maintien est incorporé à l'un des logements et un élément de serrage est intégré à l'autre logement. L'élément de serrage et l'élément de maintien sont interconnectés et solidaires pour maintenir les logements en positions côte à côte avec un élément flottant entre les deux, cet élément flottant corrigeant tout défaut d'alignement entre les fiches et les alvéoles.
