Abstract of the Disclosure Apparatus for constructing a plurality of wire trusses on a continuous basis includes an endless conveyor belt carrying a plurality of assembly blocks movable successively by the conveyor belt along a desired line. The assembly blocks each have an outer flat surface which, in move- ment of the blocks along the line, lie in a common plane parallel to the line. The several blocks define in their flat surfaces a plurality of pairs of grooves which extend parallel to the line of block movement. The adjacent pairs of grooves are more closely spaced to each other than are the grooves constituting each pair. The grooves in each block are aligned with the grooves in the other blocks. Also, the flat surface of each block has at least one groove which extends diagonally to and which intersects the parallel grooves. The apparatus includes a feeding mechanism for feeding wires longitudinally into the grooves which are aligned with the direction of movement of the conveyor blocks, and dispensing means for inserting discrete lengths of wire into the diagonal grooves so that wires disposed in the diagonal grooves contact the wires disposed in the parallel grooves. The apparatus includes welding units for welding each d the diagonally disposed wires to the wires in the alingned parallel grooves while all the wires are moving with the conveyor belt. A cutting assembly is disposed along the line of movement of the conveyor belt downstream of the welding units for cutting the diagonal wires in the grid between the longitudinal wires of adjacent pairs.
