A method and apparatus for treating cardiac arrhythmias comprising an instrument for mapping ventricular tachycardia, is disclosed. The method is for ablating a portion of an organ or bodily structure of a patient, which comprises obtaining a perspective image of the organ or structure to be mapped; advancing one or more catheters having distal tips to sites adjacent to or within the organ or structure; sensing the location of each catheter's distal tip using a non-ionizing field; at the distal tip of the catheters, sensing local information of the organ or structure; processing the sensed information to create one or mom data points; superimposing the data points on the perspective image of the organ or structure; and ablating a portion of the organ or structure. A catheter (51) is introduced into the heart chamber (52) in the body of a patient. An antenna (101) is connected to a receiver (102), and the antennas (103a, 103b, 103c) located at the body surface (57) are transmitting antennas. The transmitter (105) transmits signals to the transmitting antennas (103a, 103b, 103c).
L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif de traitement des arythmies cardiaques. Le dispositif comprend un instrument permettant de cartographier la tachycardie ventriculaire. Le procédé consiste à faire l'ablation d'une partie d'organe ou de structure organique d'un patient, et comprend les étapes suivantes: produire une image en perspective de l'organe ou de la structure à cartographier; faire progresser un ou plusieurs cathéters ayant des extrémités distales vers des sites se trouvant à l'intérieur ou à proximité de la structure ou de l'organe; détecter la position de l'extrémité distale de chacun des cathéters à l'aide d'un champ non ionisant; détecter des informations locales concernant l'organe ou la structure, à l'extrémité distale des cathéters; traiter les informations recueillies pour créer un ou plusieurs points de données; superposer un ou plusieurs points de données à l'image en perspective de l'organe ou de la structure; et faire l'ablation de la partie d'organe ou de structure. Un cathéter (51) est introduit dans la cavité cardiaque (52) du corps du patient. Une antenne (101) est connectée à un récepteur (102) et les antennes (103a, 103b, 103c) situées à la surface du corps (57) sont des antennes émettrices. L'émetteur (105) transmet des signaux aux antennes émettrices (103a, 103b, 103c).
