ABSTRACT: The radiation source of a scanning X-ray exa- mination apparatus which generates a fan-shaped radiation beam, is adjustable relative to the body to be examined so that the beam each time exactly covers the body. For adjustment of the optimum distance, use can be made of the radiation which passes besides the body. The vari- ation of the enlargement factor which is caused by this adjustment during measurement is recorded and is applied to an arithmetic unit for calculating the absorption values.
