ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Apparatus for measuring the temperature of a surface of an article includes a thermally-responsive temperature measuring element for providing an output signal related to the temperature of said element. A pair of electrical conductors support the temperature measuring element in a position spaced from a supporting member and close to but spaced from the surface so that the element is responsive to the temperature of the surface. The electrical conductors transmit the output signal from the element, and are exposed to the same temperature as the element. Thus, no temperature gradient exists between the element and the electrical conductors, and heat escape from the element to the electrical conductors is eliminated.
