ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: Apparatus for measuring and monitoring the state of activated sludge in the continuous treatment of waste waters or sewage. A suspensoid is produced by clarifying a quantity of the sludge-charged liquid, and the apparent weight of the sludge relative to the suspensoid is derived and is used as an indication of the state of the treatment installation. The apparatus is easily transportable and can be used on site.
