ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A flow cell for metering liquid flow which comprises a flow cell body having a flow-through passage for metering liquid passing therethrough. A resistance semiconductor is operably positioned in the passage for imparting sensible heat pulses to the liquid and a sensing semiconductor is operably positioned in the passage downstream from the resistance heating semiconductor for detecting the rate of change of temperature of the liquid or temperature transient in the liquid for metering volumetric flow of liquid in the passage. The flow cell is capable of measuring liquid flow rates between 0.1 and 10.0 cc/min with a precision of at least 0.1 percent. The flow cell of the invention is particularly well suited to high performance liquid chromatography applications. 28,569-F
