Abstract of the Disclosure An apparatus for moving the charge in an electric smelting furnace is disclosed. The apparatus comprises an annular member disposed within the confines of the furnace pot, said annular member having means for moving the charge towards the center of the pot when the annular member is oscillated or rotated.
