A device for collection of a fluid sample, particularly a biological sample from an internal cavity of a mammal, comprises a barrel (3) having an opening (4) at one end thereof, a plunger (2) operable axially within the barrel (3), the barrel (3) and the plunger (2) defining a fluid chamber (7) having a volume which varies on axial movement of the plunger (2) within the barrel (3), and a hollow, elongate tube (1) extending from the fluid chamber (7) through the opening (4) in the barrel (3), the tube (1) being in operative engagement with the plunger (2) for axial movement to extend and retract the tube (1) within respect to the barrel (3) on axial movement of the plunger (2), and the tube (1) being in fluid communication with the fluid chamber (7) to provide a fluid flow path to and from the fluid chamber (7) through the hollow tube (1). A method for collection of a fluid sample from an internal cavity of a mammal is also disclosed.

L'invention concerne un dispositif destiné à prélever un échantillon de fluide, en particulier un échantillon biologique dans une cavité interne d'un mammifère, comprenant un corps cylindrique (3) présentant une ouverture (4) à l'une de ses extrémités, un piston (2) déplaçable axialement à l'intérieur du corps cylindrique (3), le corps cylindrique (3) et le piston délimitant une chambre de fluide (7) ayant un volume variant en fonction du déplacement axial du plongeur (2) à l'intérieur du corps cylindrique (3), et un tube allongé creux (1) s'étendant de la chambre de fluide (7) à travers l'ouverture (4) dans le corps cylindrique (3), le tube (1) étant en liaison coopérante avec le piston (2), en vue d'étendre et de rétracter le tube (1) par rapport au corps cylindrique (3) lors du déplacement axial du piston (2), le tube (1) étant en communication avec la chambre de fluide (7), de manière à obtenir un parcours d'écoulement de fluide en direction de la chambre de fluide (7), et à partir de celle-ci, à travers le tube creux (1).
