ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present disclosure describes an apparatus for operating and controlling machines cleaning thin metal or metal coated sheets and boards. The apparatus for operating and controlling board-cleaning machines having at least one horizontal cylindrical brush comprises means capable of detecting the forward movements of the boards to be cleaned, a memory for storing the length of the boards, at motor unit for driving at least one brush in a direction of rotation normally the same as the direction of movement of the boards, and also a processor which collects the signals emitted by the means, compares them with the data stored in the memory and then processes them in order operate the motor unit so that it causes at least one brush to rotate, which the latter is engaged with the rear end part of the board being processed, at a speed having an absolute value greater than or equal to zero and in the opposite direction to the direction of movement of the board.
