A method and apparatus for planing an article of wood. Specifically disclosed is a cutting head adapted for rotation about an axis, and at least one elongate knife including a linear cutting edge for cutting the wood. The cutting edge terminates at opposite ends of the knife in respective tips. The knife is held by the cutting head so that each tip is rotated about the axis of rotation at the same fixed radius. However, the cutting edge is misaligned by a predetermined bias angle with respect to the axis of rotation. Where a plurality of the cutting heads are stacked or ganged together, preferably, the angle of misalignment for the knives of some of the cutting heads is reversed from the angle of misalignment for the knives of others of the cutting heads.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil de rabotage d'un article en bois. Elle concerne spécifiquement une tête de coupe conçue afin de tourner atour d'un axe, et au moins un couteau oblong comportant un bord linéaire coupant destiné à couper le bois. Le bord coupant se termine aux extrémités opposées du couteau selon des embouts respectifs. Le couteau est maintenu par la tête de coupe de façon que chaque embout tourne autour de l'axe de rotation selon le même rayon fixe. Cependant, le bord coupant est en défaut d'alignement selon un angle en biais par rapport à l'axe de rotation. Là où plusieurs têtes de coupe sont empilées ensemble ou jumelées, l'angle représentatif du défaut d'alignement des couteaux de certaines têtes de coupe est, de préférence, inversé par rapport à l'angle de défaut d'alignement des couteaux des autres têtes de coupe.
