An apparatus (10) for preparing cans (70) for recycling which automatically feeds (12, 15, 16) cans one at a time into a cleaning station for cleaning (22) and draining (23) any remaining residue from the cans. At the completion of the cleaning cycle, the cleaned can is fed to a crushing station (34, 35, 36) where the can (70') is crushed to a predetermined thickness and then dropped into a hopper (54) for storage for recycling. In accordance with the invention, three or more aluminum or tinned steel cans may be cleaned and crushed per minute without operator intervention.

Appareil (10) préparant les boîtes de conserves (70) en vue de leur recyclage en les dirigeant automatiquement (12, 14, 16) une à une sur un poste assurant leur nettoyage (22) et l'élimination (23) de tous résidus. Le cycle de nettoyage achevé, les boîtes sont acheminées sur un poste d'écrasement (34, 35, 36) où elles sont amenées à une épaisseur donnée, puis dans une trémie (54) où elles sont stockées en vue de leur recyclage. Ledit appareil permet de traiter sans intervention humaine au moins trois boîtes en aluminium ou en acier étamé à la minute.
