APPARATUS FOR PRESSURE SCREENING PULPED FIBROUS MATTER Abstract of the Disclosure The apparatus is designed for pressure screening pulp- ed fibrous matter and, more particularly, for fine screen- ing of paper pulp stock prior to its being fed to a paper- making machine. The apparatus for pressure screening pulped fibrous matter comprises a cylinder-shaped housing complete with end cover plates, conduits for feeding the fibrous stock to be screened into the apparatus and for discharging the accepted fibrous stock and the rejects therefrom, a rotor in the form of a drum with end walls, and two identical screen members defining in conjunction with said rotor an annular space, the fibrous stock to be screened moving therethrough in two oppositely-directed streams, and pass- ages for communication of said annular space and said con- duits. In this apparatus the passages feeding the fibrous stock into the annular space between said rotor and screen members, terminate in a space defined by the end cover plates of said housing and the end walls of said rotor while in between said screen members there is located an annular gutter, its open side facing the rotor and the gutter it- self communicating with the rejects discharging conduit, the result being that the fibrous stock to be screened is fed for screening to the opposite sides of said housing, moving towards its central part while the rejects are be- ing removed from that same central part of the hous- ing.
