ABSTRACT An ice preventing/removing device is mounted in the air intake duct of a gas turbine engine. The device comprises two or more rows of vertically extending, hollow tubular mem- bers connected between upper and lower headers, through which exhaust gases are drawn. The tubular members are specially designed to both remove moisture droplets from the incoming air and heat the air. Both condensate and precipitate icing in the inlet system can thereby be prevented and existing ice accumulations can be eliminated without necessarily heating the inlet air to 32°F. or higher. Economy of turbine opera- tion and increased turbine output capacity can therefore be gained.
