ABSTRACT Disclosed is an apparatus for producing artificial reverberations by means of a uni-dimensional wave-guide, the said uni-dimensional wave-guide being obtained with digital-technology circuits and comprising at least two line-sections of different lengths, each line-section consisting of two digital delay-arrangements running parallel with each other, one for each direction of propagation. Furthermore, at least one three-gate adapter, of the wave-digital-filter type, is arranged between two line-sections adjacent each other, two gates of the said three-gate adapter each being connected to one of the two ends, facing each other, of the said two line-sections, and the relevant gate of one three-gate adapter being closed off by a frequency-dependent absorber obtained by digital-technology. Digital implementation of a uni-dimensional wave guide, fitted with discontinuities and absorbers, now makes it possible to reverberate a signal diffusely and with programmable reverberation-time frequency-response, without having to made allowances for a reduction in signal-to-noise ratio as a result of limit-cycles.
