ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An apparatus is disclosed for producing nearly parallelepipedal containers from a continuous tube of packaging material. The apparatus has two opposed assemblies of jaws which are rotated simultaneously so that the jaws of the two assemblies consecutively come together to compress the tube and continue together for a predetermined amount of vertical travel during which the tube is transversely sealed and subsequently severed. The jaws are mounted on disks which have their axes displaced so that the jaws are held horizontal throughout the rotation of the two assemblies.
