ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE By the use of an apparatus for producing a poly- arylenesulfide comprising a dehydrator vessel and/or a reactor vessel wherein at least liquid-contacting parts thereof are fabricated of titanium, a clean polyarylene- sulfide containing no foreign matter can be obtained by reacting a hydrous alkali metal sulfide with a dihalo- aromatic compound in an aprotic polar organic solvent.
