An apparatus (300) for providing independent over-current protection to a plurality of electrical devices and a transient-voltage suppression system employing the apparatus. In one embodiment, the apparatus includes a non- conductive body (310) having a plurality of bores (311) extending through the body from a first portion (313) to a second portion (312) of the body, a plurality of fusible elements (320) corresponding to and disposed within the plurality of bores, each of the fusible elements having a first terminal (323) proximate to the first portion of the body and a second terminal (321) proximate to the second portion, and a common electrode (330) coupled to the first terminal of each of the plurality of fusible elements. The common electrode is couplable to a source of electrical power and the second terminals of each of the plurality of fusible elements are couplable to an electrical device, such as a metal oxide varistor in a transient-voltage suppression system. Each of the fusible elements are operative to open circuit when an electrical device coupled thereto causes an electrical current to flow through the fusible element in excess of a current rating of the fusible element.
L'invention concerne un appareil (300) apportant une protection de surintensité indépendante à plusieurs dispositifs électriques, ainsi qu'un système suppresseur de tension transitoire utilisant cet appareil. Dans un mode de réalisation, cet appareil comprend un corps non conducteur (310) présentant plusieurs alésages (311) qui s'étendent d'une première partie (313) à une seconde partie (312) de ce corps, plusieurs éléments fusibles correspondants (320) étant par ailleurs disposés à l'intérieur de ces alésages. Chacun de ces éléments fusibles présente une première borne (323), adjacente à la première partie dudit corps, et une seconde borne (321) proche de la seconde partie de ce corps, une électrode commune (330) étant en outre couplée à la première borne de chaque élément fusible. Cette électrode commune peut également être couplée à une source d'alimentation électrique, la seconde borne de chaque élément fusible pouvant quant à elle être couplée à un dispositif électrique, par exemple le movistor d'un système suppresseur de tension transitoire. Chaque élément fusible peut par ailleurs fonctionner en circuit ouvert lorsqu'un dispositif électrique couplé à cet élément provoque une circulation de courant dans ce dernier, ce courant dépassant le courant nominal de cet élément.
