ABSTRACT An apparatus is disclosed comprises a centrifugal pump fed by a screw feeder. The screw feeder comprises a screw with a partially open thread. The screw is driven separately from, in opposed direction to, and at a lower speed than the impeller of the pump. With this apparatus pulps of high concentrations, i.e. up to 18% or even more, can be pumped.
