ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Apparatus for purification of waste water includes an up- right absorber filled with active carbon passing in downward direc- tion through the adsorber while waste water flows in upward direc- tion therethrough. Means at the region of the lower end of the ad- sorber, into which waste water is fed, are constructed to assure a substantial even distribution of the waste water during its upward flow through the carbon column, and further means are provided to regulate the flow of the carbon through the adsorber in dependence on the concentration of the organic contaminants adsorbed by the carbon. - 1 -
