A series of remote input/output repeater modules (12a-12d) connected on a synchronous serial communication network supervised by a programmable logic controller(10) uses a synchronous serial communications protocol. The programmable logic controller (10) contains a transmitter module (16) for generating a data packet containing the state of output devices (24a-24d) connected to the remote input/output repeater modules (12a-12d). A receiver module (18) receives and decodes a returned modified data packet that indicates the state of input devices (22a-22d) connected to the same or other remote input/output repeater modules (12a-12d). The remote input/output repeater modules,(12a-12d) receive and decode the data packet to determine the state of the output devices (24a-24d) that may be connected to it and modifies the data packet to indicate the state of its input device (22a-22d) if there is one present. The modified data packet is sent to the next in-line remote input/output repeater module (12a-12d) coupled to the network.
Une série de modules répéteurs entrée/sortie à distance (12a-12d) raccordés à un réseau synchrone de communications en série supervisé par un contrôleur logique programmable (10) utilise un protocole synchrone de communications en série. Le contrôleur logique programmable (10) contient un module émetteur (16) en vue de générer un paquet de données contenant l'état des dispositifs de sortie (24a-24d) reliés aux modules répéteurs entrée/sortie à distance (12a-12d). Un module récepteur (18) reçoit et décode un paquet de données modifiées renvoyées indiquant l'état des dispositifs d'entrée (22a-22d) raccordés aux mêmes modules ou à d'autres modules entrée/sortie éloignés (12a-12d). Les modules répéteurs entrée/sortie éloignés (12a-12d) reçoivent et décodent le paquet de données afin de détérminer l'état des dispositifs de sortie (24a-24d) qui peuvent être connectés à celui-ci et modifie le paquet de données afin d'indiquer l'état de son dispositif d'entrée (22a-22d) s'il en existe un. Le paquet de données modifié est envoyé au module répéteur entrée/sortie à distance (12a-12d) suivant, également aligné et raccordé au réseau.
