ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An apparatus for recording identifying data concerning the use of a credit card, cheque or the like is provided with a weight scale for weighing the user, a register dispensing two copies of a receipt on which are printed the weight of the user and other data, such as the date of use of the apparatus, the number of the apparatus and a user reference number; one copy of the receipt is dispensed to the user while the second copy is retained inside the apparatus. A camera inside the apparatus photographs the user through a one-way mirror. simultaneously with the other copy of the receipt which is passed in photo- graphic view of the camera. Activation of the camera is accomplished when the user inserts the credit card, cheque or like document into an appropriate slot and, if required, the appropriate amount of coin.
