An apparatus for recovering floating tube cleaning elements from a flowing body of water is disclosed. The apparatus supporting floats are oriented so that the center of buoyancy of the apparatus is downstream of a weir. Floating tube cleaning elements are collected by a combination of skimming booms and screens which harness the force of the flowing body of water to direct the floating tube cleaning elements over the weir into a buoyancy tank connected to a suction pump which recirculates the float- ing tube cleaning elements. The orientation of the center of buoyancy of the apparatus provides for automatic adjustment of the level of water in the buoyancy tank.
