A continuous motion cyclindrical can decorator is provided with mandrels (20) that receive undecorated cans (16) and a deco chain (30) that carries decorated cans through a curing oven. The mandrels are mounted along the periphery of a continuously rotating carrier (18). Chain speed is much slower than linear mandrel speed and spacing between pins (29a, 29b) on the chain is much less than spacing between mandrels. Interposed between the chain (30) and the mandrel carrier (18) is a continuously rotating transfer carrier (27) having a plurality of suction holding devices (36) thereto. Linear speed of the holding devices (36) while moving through the transfer region exceeds chain speed, and in this region the holding devices are spaced apart by a distance that exceeds pin spacing. By the time the holding devices (36) reach the pickup region they are arranged in two rows, are spaced apart and are moving at a speed such that they essentially track the moving pins (29a, 29b) while the latter are being loaded.
L'invention se rapporte à une installation pour la décoration de boîtes en fer-blanc cylindriques à mouvement continu, qui comporte des mandrins (20) destinés à recevoir les boîtes non décorées (16), ainsi qu'un transporteur à chaîne (30) destiné à acheminer les boîtes décorées dans un four de cuisson. Les mandrins sont montés sur la périphérie d'un porte-mandrins continuellement en rotation (18). La vitesse du transporteur à chaîne est considérablement inférieure à la vitesse linéaire des mandrins et l'espacement des ergots (29a, 29b) sur le transporteur à chaîne est considérablement inférieur à l'espacement des mandrins. Entre le transporteur à chaîne (30) et le porte-mandrins (18) est placé un tambour de transfert en rotation continue (27) sur lequel sont fixées plusieurs ventouses (36). La vitesse linéaire des ventouses (36) au moment de leur déplacement à travers la région de transfert dépasse la vitesse du transporteur à chaîne et l'espacement des ventouses dans cette région est surpérieur à l'espacement des ergots. Au fur et à mesure qu'elles atteignent la région de préhénsion, les ventouses (36) se disposent en deux rangées, s'éloignent entre elles et se déplacent à une vitesse telle qu'elles suivent essentiellement le mouvement des ergots (29a, 29b) tandis que ces derniers sont chargés les uns après les autres avec les boîtes décorées.
