An apparatus (3, 103) for removal of packaging (11) from a big bale (1) , the apparatus (3) comprising: - at least one gripper (41, 141) arranged to hold on to a part of the packaging (11) ; - at least one cutting means (31, 131) arranged to make at least a first cut through the packaging (11) at the binding material-covered face and substantially transversely of the longitudinal extent of the binding material, and optionally make further cuts through the packaging, preferably in the faces adjacent to the first cut, in order to create an opening in the packaging (11) enclosing the big bale (1) ; and - at least one supporting means (23, 123) , the at least one supporting means (23, 123) and/or the gripper (41, 141) being arranged to effect relative movement between the big bale (1) and the at least one gripper (41, 141) , whereby the packaging (11) is separated from the contents (1a) of the big bale.

L~invention concerne un appareil (3, 103) pour le retrait de l~emballage (11) d~une grosse balle (1), l~appareil (3) comprenant : - au moins une pince (41, 141) installée pour retenir une partie de l~emballage (11) ; - au moins un moyen de découpe (31, 131) installé pour réaliser au moins une première découpe dans l~emballage (11) au niveau de la face recouverte de matériau de liaison et sensiblement transversalement par rapport à la longueur du matériau de liaison, et facultativement réaliser des découpes supplémentaires dans l~emballage, de préférence dans les faces adjacentes à la première découpe, afin de créer une ouverture dans l~emballage (11) enveloppant la grosse balle (1) ; et, au moins un moyen de support (23, 123), le ou les moyens de support (23, 123) et/ou la pince (41, 141) étant installés pour effectuer un mouvement relatif entre la grosse balle (1) et la ou les pinces (41, 141), moyennant quoi l~emballage (11) est séparé du contenu (1a) de la grosse balle.
