Apparatus for retracting a balloon back into a delivery sheath following a medical procedure using the balloon. A handle on the device includes a balloon folding mechanism coupled to a proximal end of a guide wire shaft so that actuating the balloon folding mechanism causes rotation of the guide wire shaft within a catheter body. A distal end of the balloon is attached to a distal end of the guide wire shaft, which extends beyond the distal end of the catheter, and a proximal end of the balloon is attached to the distal end of the catheter so that actuating the folding mechanism causes the balloon to wrap around the guide wire shaft. The folding mechanism may also be configured for elongating the balloon. Rotating, or rotating and elongating, the deflated balloon results in a balloon with a smaller profile that may easily be retracted into a delivery sheath.
La présente invention concerne un appareil permettant le retrait dun ballonnet pour le faire revenir dans une gaine de libération à la suite dune procédure médicale utilisant le ballonnet. Une poignée sur le dispositif comprend un mécanisme de pliage du ballonnet accouplé à une extrémité proximale dune tige de fil-guide de façon que lactionnement dudit mécanisme entraîne la rotation de ladite tige dans un corps de cathéter. Une extrémité distale du ballonnet est fixée à une extrémité distale de ladite tige, qui sétend au-delà de lextrémité distale du cathéter, et une extrémité proximale du ballonnet est fixée à lextrémité distale du cathéter de façon que lactionnement dudit mécanisme amène le ballonnet à senrouler sur ladite tige. Ledit mécanisme peut également être configuré pour allonger le ballonnet. La rotation, ou la rotation et lallongement, du ballonnet dégonflé a pour résultat un ballonnet ayant un profil plus petit qui peut être facilement retiré dans une gaine de libération.
