ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An apparatus for retrofit installation of an arm rest in a motor vehicle having a bench seat. The apparatus consists of a support having a front, a back, a top and a bottom. A generally hook-shaped member extends from the back at the bottom of the support. The hook-shaped member is adapted for insertion between a back member and a seat member of a bench seat. The hook-shaped member hooks over a rear portion of one of the back member or the seat member of the bench seat. An arm rest extends from the front of the support.
