ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Apparatus for separating coils of coiled wire rod from following coils travelling along a moving conveyor in- cludes a coil engaging device mounted above the conveyor. The coil engaging device is advanced in the same direction as the conveyor from a first position to a second position at a speed greater than that of the conveyor and is moved downwardly to engage a selected coil at the first position to cause the selected coil to be moved ahead relative to following coils by the advancing movement of the coil en- gaging device.
