ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An apparatus for the separation of blood components is disclosed which comprises a housing provided with an inlet for a hemocyte suspension and an outlet for the hemocyte suspension and at least one filter material selected from the group consisting of woven fabrics and knitted fabrics both made of yarns obtained by twisting a plurality of fibers substantially incapable of degenerating the hemocyte suspension and packed in the housing. Owing to the configuration, the filter material is enabled to retain the hemocyte suspension safely therein even when it is packed in high density and the apparatus is consequently enabled to effect the removal of leukocytes and platelets by a simple procedure with high efficiency in terms of both quantity and time.
