18205 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The apparatus for spreading glue-coated chips for the production of particle board includes between the spreadable material bunker and the spreading head, a ball separator for removing agglomerates of the glue and chips. The unit has a disk grate which passes the bulk of the spreadable material onto a transport belt therebelow which carries the material to the delivery unit while the entraining fingers of the interdigtating disks of the grate cast the balls off an edge of the grate into a ball catcher.
