A system for stapling tissue comprises a flexible endoscope and an operative head including a pair of opposed, curved tissue clamping jaws sized to pass through an esophagus. The jaws are moveable between an open tissue receiving configuration and a closed tissue clamping configuration. A first jaw includes a stapling mechanism and a second jaw includes a staple forming anvil surface. The stapling mechanism comprises staple slots through which staples are fired arranged in a row extending from a proximal end of the first jaw to a distal end thereof. A control handle remains outside a patient when the operative head is in position within his/her stomach or esophagus, and includes a first actuator for moving the jaws relative to one another and a second actuator for operating the stapling mechanism.
L'invention concerne un système pour l'agrafage de tissu, qui comprend un endoscope flexible (20) et une tête opérationnelle équipée d'une paire de mâchoires opposées incurvées capables de pincer le tissu (17), ayant une dimension qui permet leur passage dans l'oesophage. Ces mâchoires (17) sont mobiles l'une par rapport à l'autre, pouvant passer d'une configuration ouverte de réception de tissu à une configuration fermée de pincement de tissu. L'une de ces deux mâchoires (17) comprend un mécanisme d'agrafage (40), l'autre comprend une surface constituant une sorte de butée pour la mise en forme des agrafes (50A). Ledit mécanisme comporte des fentes par lesquelles sont éjectées les agrafes. Les fentes forment une rangée qui s'étend d'une extrémité proximale de la première mâchoire vers une extrémité distale ce cette mâchoire, en combinaison avec une poignée de contrôle (12). Lorsque la tête opérationnelle est en position opérationnelle dans l'estomac et l'oesophage, cette poignée reste à l'extérieur du corps du patient: elle comprend un premier actionneur (12A) qui déplace les mâchoires l'une par rapport à l'autre, et un second actionneur (12B) faisant fonctionner le mécanisme.
