ABSTRACT An apparatus for storing electrical energy in a superconductor comprises first and second superconductor material coils coupled together by mutual induction. The apparatus further comprises a high permeability magnetic material in the vicinity of the two coils. In operation, current is injected in the first coil and can be subsequently extracted therefrom. The apparatus can be applied to energy storage.
