ABSTRACT An apparatus for storing unused felt pens for an electronic input board system is described. For writing multiple color information on the electronic board, colored felt pens are used and one of these color felt pens is replaceably mounted in a pen holder. To prevent drying out of ink, the apparatus is provided with caps for the unused felt pens. The apparatus comprises a series of wells at the bottom of each of which is provided an airtight cap. When the holder is inserted, the pen being held in the holder is retained in the well by a lever mechanism. To pick up a desired pen, the empty holder is inserted into the appropriate well and the appropriate lever mechanism manually operated to release the pen which is then secured in the pen holder. The wells are each provided with sensors for indicating the absence or presence of a pen. Each well may be designated for a particular color (or pen thickness) and so the system can always automatically identify the color (or pen thickness) in use at any time.
