Installation for strapping items (10) by means of bands (20), in particular for strapping pulp bales by means of paper bands, having an arrangement (2) far conveying the tensioning bands (20) around the items (10), and having arrangements for tensioning the bands (20) and for connecting the tensioned bands (20) enclosing the items (10). In this case, the conveying arrangement is formed by a drawing arrangement (2), such as a belt or the like, which encloses the respective item and is designed with a carry-along element (3) for a band (20), and the drawing arrangement (2) is assigned a drive (13) by means or which the carry-along element (3) can be moved around the item (10). (Figure 1).
