ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Appliance for stripping the insulation from electrical cables is disclosed, having cutting means penetrating the sheathing at a point, whereupon the rotation of the cable relative to the appliance extends the original incision over the entire periphery. The appliance includes generally planar first and second jaws hingedly secured to each other. The first jaw is associated with the cutting means and with a support for retaining the cable. The second jaw presses the cable onto the support when the jaws are in closed postion, to make the cutting means protrude beyond the support to a selectively adjustable extent to effect the incision to a predetermine depth. A gripping means associated with one of said jaws is then used in effecting the relative rotation to complete the cut.
