ABSTRACT The present invention relates to an apparatus for supporting freight carriers. The carriers are demountable from a vehicle. The apparatus is comprised of a carrying frame fitted to the vehicle which has supporting elements which carry and/or restrain the freight carrier. The supporting elements are movable in the lateral direction of the vehicle so that different kinds of freight carriers can be mounted on the carrying frame.
