The pitch of synthesised speech signals is varied by separating the speech signals into a spectral component and an excitation component. The latter is multiplied by a series of overlapping window functions synchronous, in the case of voiced speech, with pitch timing mark information corresponding at least approximately to instants of vocal excitation, to separate it into windowed speech segments which are added together again after the application of a controllable time-shift. The spectral and excitation components are then recombined. The multiplication employs at least two windows per pitch period, each having a duration of less than one pitch period. Alternatively each window has a duration of less than twice the pitch period between timing marks and is asymmetric about the timing mark.
On fait varier la hauteur tonale de signaux vocaux synthétisés en séparant les signaux vocaux en une composante spectrale et une composante d'excitation. On multiplie cette dernière par une série de fonctions de fenêtre se chevauchant qui, dans le cas d'une parole voisée, sont synchrones avec les informations de repère d'horloge de hauteur tonale correspondant au moins approximativement à des instants d'excitation vocale, pour la décomposer en segments de parole affichés dans une fenêtre qui sont ré-additionnés ensemble après l'application d'un décalage temps pouvant être commandé. On recombine ensuite les composantes spectrales et d'excitation. La multiplication utilise au moins deux fenêtres par période de hauteur tonale, chacune ayant une durée inférieure à une période de hauteur tonale, ou bien dans une autre forme d'exécution, chaque fenêtre a une durée inférieure à deux fois la période de hauteur tonale entre des repères d'horloge et est asymétrique au voisinage du repère d'horloge.
