Apparatus for cleaning exhaust gas from a combustion installation includes a soot filter which is positioned in the exhaust gas flow. The soot filter has a flexible filter band which in a first zone is subjected to a through flow of the exhaust gas and can be continuously or intermittently advanced and renewed from a storage roll by a drive. The filter band is supported in the first zone on and movable by a flexible, gas permeable continuous transport band which provides the necessary longitudinal tension. The filter band and the particles separated from the exhaust gas are burnt together in a second zone. Thus, both the filter band and the particles on it are disposed of in the apparatus itself thereby providing an economical filtering process. The filter band need not be strong enough itself to withstand the exhaust gas pressures which are resisted by the transport band.

Cette invention concerne un appareil d'épuration des gaz de combustion comprenant un filtre à suie placé en travers du trajet d'évacuation desdits gaz. Le filtre à suie est une bande filtrante souple traversée par les gaz de combustion dans une première zone et que l'on peut renouveler en continu ou par intermittence en déroulant la bande en réserve au moyen d'un mécanisme d'entraînement. La bande filtrante est soutenue à la hauteur de ladite première zone et elle est déplacée à l'aide d'une bande transporteuse continue, perméable aux gaz et souple qui assure la tension longitudinale nécessaire. La bande filtrante et les particules dont elle a débarrassé les gaz de combustion sont brûlées ensemble dans une seconde zone. Ainsi, la bande filtrante et les particules qui s'y trouvent sont éliminées dans l'appareil même objet de l'invention, ce qui rehausse l'économie du procédé d'épuration. Il n'est pas nécessaire que la bande filtrante ait une résistance mécanique suffisante pour ne pas se défaire sous la pression des gaz de combustion puisque la bande transporteuse sert de renfort.
